Among the Gwinnett Chamber’s most prestigious honors, the Pinnacle Small Business Awards pays tribute to leading small businesses that dare to start, strive to sustain and persevere to succeed.

Held each year during the Gwinnett Small Business Summit, the Pinnacle Small Business Awards honor the top performers in the following categories:

Family-Owned Small Business of the Year

You are a family-owned and actively operated business that was either passed down or originated by your generation. You have proven success as measured by products, service, sales and profits and have demonstrated the potential necessary for long-term business success and economic growth. You have increased employment opportunities for family members and non-family members, helped to enhance their value and quality of life and exhibited efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: Business must be 51% Family-owned and actively operated.

Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year

You are a minority-owned and actively operated business. You have proven success as measured by products, service, sales and profits and have demonstrated the potential necessary for long-term business success and economic growth. You have increased employment opportunities, helped to enhance their value and quality of life, and exhibited efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: Business must be 51% ethnic or economically disadvantaged group-owned and actively operated.

Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year

You are a woman-owned and actively operated business. You have proven success as measured by products, service, sales and profits and have demonstrated the potential necessary for long-term business success and economic growth. You have increased employment opportunities, helped to enhance their value and quality of life, and exhibited efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: Business must be 51% woman-owned and actively operated.

Home-Based Small Business of the Year

You are a business owner who has experienced the rewards and difficulties of operating a small business from their home. You have proven success as measured by your products, service, sales and profits and demonstrated the potential necessary for long-term business success and economic growth. You look for ways to increase employment opportunities and exhibit efforts to strengthen the community.
Additional Criteria: Must be a licensed business.

Rising Star of the Year (New Business)

You had a dream of business ownership and you’ve made it a reality. You are working hard to plan out the business through assistance, personal and professional development to give you the best opportunity for success and economic growth. You are always looking to increase employment opportunities, enhance your value and quality of life, and have exhibited efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: You have been in business LESS than two years.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year

You are a young entrepreneur/small business person who demonstrates drive, determination and success while making a difference in the community.
Additional Criteria: The owner of the business must be 30 years of age or younger (as of 9/1/17).

Small Business 0-5 Employees

You are a business with 0-5 employees that demonstrates good business practices, customer service, and a commitment to growth and development. You have a commitment to staff development and have helped to enhance your employees value and quality of life. You support local merchants and exhibit efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: 0-5 employees. In business for two years or more.

Small Business 6-24 Employees

You are a business with 6-24 employees that demonstrates good business practices, customer service, and a commitment to growth and development. You have a commitment to staff development and have helped to enhance your employees value and quality of life. You support local merchants and exhibit efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: 6-24 employees. In business for two years or more.

Small Business 25+ Employees

You are a business with more than 25 employees that demonstrates good business practices, customer service, and a commitment to growth and development. You have a commitment to staff development and have helped to enhance your employees value and quality of life. You support local merchants and exhibit efforts to strengthen the community as a whole.
Additional Criteria: 25+ employees. In business for two years or more.

Small Business Resource Partner

You are an individual or organization whose contributions promote the proper start up or continued prosperity of other small businesses in the region. You go above and beyond the call of your own professional duties to ensure the small business community thrives.


Important Dates For The 2017 Awards

Nominations accepted all year through July 28, 2017.

Applications deadline extended to August 13, 2017.

Semi-Finalists will be announced on September 8, 2017.

Finalists in each category will be announced on September 21, 2017.

Winners will be announced on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Gwinnett Small Business Summit at the Infinite Energy Forum.
